Recently, Global Water Intelligence (GWI), leading in the global water industry, announced the ranking of the global TOP20 developers of desalination and water reuse project from 2019-2020, with four Chinese enterprises! HWTT is ranked tenth.

The ocean covers 71% of the earth's surface, but it can not be directly used . To effectively alleviate the major problem of water shortage, implementing open source and the throttle  is a strategic measure to support China's water security. It is one of the most important ways to ask for resources to the sea and convert seawater into freshwater to apply to life and production to solve the shortage of freshwater.

In China, HWTT is the first scientific research institution specializing in desalination technology. It is also a national pioneer in the field of liquid separation membrane and an important base for the industrialization of membrane desalination and water treatment technology. As a leading water resources development and comprehensive utilization service provider, HWTT accounts for more than 60% of the domestic market share of membrane desalination business and undertakes almost all the large-scale membrane desalination design, complete equipment manufacturing, and engineering services in China. Around the world, HWTT also has many desalination demonstration projects in power, chemical industry, municipal, etc, providing more than 1 million tons of freshwater a day to the world over the past 53 years.

"We feel intense pressure to compete with global companies on the international stage," Yang Bo, general engineer of HWTT, said. "Motive always stays with depression. Through continuous innovation and development of membrane technology, on Yushan Island, Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, we have achieved that the single-device scale exceeds 35,000 tons per day, which is currently the largest unit in the world, and the tonnage water operation cost of the desalination system has reached nearly 3 yuan."

The Yushan Island project mentioned by Yang Bo is a supporting desalination system for the 40 million tons/year refining and integrated project of Zhejiang Petrolium&Chemical CO., Ltd. It is also the largest desalination system in the domestic petrochemical industry. When completed , the system will produce 250,000 tons per day. The first phase of 100,000 tons per day has reached 2019 , and the second phase of 150,000 tons per day will be completed in 2021. The first phase of the project is a demonstration of national key research project, which is a membrane desalination technology for large-scale applications and the equipment development and demonstration. Some advanced technical achievements with independent intellectual property have been applied. The scale of a seawater reverse osmosis device used in the project exceeds 35,000 tons per day. The success will greatly improve the international competitiveness of China's desalination system.

The development of technology cannot be separated from the support of the government. In terms of scientific and technological innovation supports, industrial development strategies and demonstration zone constructions, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and other departments have all actively promoted the development of seawater utilization in the field of industrial green transformation, structural adjustment, industrial water conservation, and scientific and technological innovation, giving companies enough space to develop.

As a leading company in the field of membrane industry in Zhejiang Province, HWTT will maintain  national membrane desalination industry development strategy, closely follow the international water treatment industry trend, layout the water field in an all-round way, go into the world stage, and become a banner of Chinese innovative company.
