Under the strong support by the National Development and Reform Commission, the inaugural meeting of “the National Seawater Desalination Industrial Union” sponsored jointly by the Center and the National Development and Investment Company and the launching ceremony of “Huanghai Sea and Bohai Sea Industrial Union” and “East China Sea and South China Sea Industrial Union” were held successfully in Beijing on March 3, 2013.
The inaugural meeting was chaired by Mr. Yang Shangbao, the director of the Department of Environment and Resource, the National Development and Reform Commission. He introduced in detail the historical background and important significance of the union establishment, and announced Huanghai Sea and Bohai Sea Industrial Union and East China Sea and South China Sea Industrial Union founded formally. 27 industrial backbone enterprises, scientific research institutions, universities and colleges of seawater desalination industry and related trade service organization turn into the first batch of the union members, in it, the East China Sea and South China Sea Industrial Union led by the Center to organize other 16 units turning into the first batch of members of the union; the Huanghai Sea and Bohai Sea Industrial Union is led and organized by the National Development and Investment Company. In the meeting, Mr. Zheng Genjiang, the Center’s director, made a speech on behalf of the East China Sea and South China Sea Industrial Union; he elucidated the developing prospects in future and existing problems in developing stage of seawater desalination in our country, and expressed that the Center and other union members will make joint efforts to adhere to the idea of “Resource sharing, complementary mutual superiorities, supporting industry and collaborative development ” to establish good the union, and do our best for the strategic, newly emergent industry of seawater desalination developing quickly. Prof. Hou Lian and Prof. Gao Congjie,, the members of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. You Jinde, the general secretary of China Membrane Industry Association, and the person in charge of the National Development and Investment Company attended the meeting and made speeches. Finally, Li Jing, vice director of the Department of Environment and Resource, the National Development and Reform Commission, made a summary with guiding significance for the meeting and the speeches of the distinguished guests, and arranged key work in next stage of the industrial union.
The establishment of the industrial unions can integrate resources and power in the field of seawater desalination, promote complementary mutual superiorities of production, teaching, research, commerce and application, and possess far-reaching influence on safeguarding water resources sustainable utilization and promoting seawater desalination industry developing in our country.
