In 1997, established itself from nothing; in 2003 ~ 2004, tackled key technical problems and wrote the first chapter for Chinese 1000-ton class seawater desalination equipment and engineering technology; in 2009, first created 10000-ton class engineering technology; in 2011, began to play on the world stage with its own independent intellectual property right…
In the evening of May 31, the World Environment Day, CCTV 2 (financial and economic channel) played a special program "a legend of membranes”. Invited by the program team Academician Gao Congjie and the general manager Zhen Genjiang presented themselves in TV studio. They vividly narrated the story of Draw Fresh Water from Sea, told audiences how Hangzhou Water Treatment Technical R&D Center (hereinafter referred to as HWTT) set up and led the membrane seawater desalination technology, and how the technology benefited Sea Islands and water-shortage coastal areas. With earnest attitude toward job and professional skill, the “Dialogue” team described many difficulties HWTT conquered, praised its hardworking and pragmatic spirit, and interpreted the corporate culture of Blue Star: "Where there is a will there is a way". The program lasted for 60 minutes. A team led by Liu Yawen, GM assistant and Party secretary of Blue Star Group Corp participated in the program recording.
Facing the situation of water environment tension and water resource shortage at home, CCTV selected “alleviating fresh water crisis, guaranteeing sustainable utilization of water resource” as the theme of this World Environment Day. The program introduced the extraordinary efforts HWTT made in the domestic history of membrane seawater desalination: growing out of nothing, from importing to wining independent intellectual property rights; by introducing and learning foreign technology, HWTT made constant innovation, gradually commanded the core technology and realized leap-forward development. The description covered several aspects, including seawater desalination technology, industrial development and future prospect; meanwhile it discussed about historical experience and new solutions from different angles of government, users and audiences.
The whole process was full of excitement and happy interaction. The program started with a conjuring played by academician GAO: via membrane treatment technology, he turned turbid seawater into clear drinkable water on the spot. After taking the produced water, audiences commented that the water tasted as good as mineral water. In the process, the vice GM Meng Youguo and chief engineer Yang Bo of HWTT also introduced the endeavor HWTT paid in world-oriented business, system integration and product localization in consideration of the "one band one road" strategy.
The program attracted attentions from all walks of life, which raised the nobility and reputation of the seawater desalination industry of HWTT. Some experts, scholars, user representatives attended the program, including Wang Xiaolin, director of membrane engineering and technical center in Tsinghua University, Cao Yimin, vice director of Zhoushan Liuheng New District Administration, Liu Shengguo, user representative of Zhoushan Liuheng Town, together witnessed the event and expressed their future prospect to the industry.
Along with the continual deterioration of environment, aggravation of water and air pollution, and constant decrease of drinkable water source, people pay more attention to environmental technology relating to sustainable development. In the face of gross water resource shortage and unsatisfied water supply to ecological chain, the seawater desalination technology receives much higher concern from the nation and the media.
Exploit water technology and benefit all society – this is the social responsibility HWTT must shoulder. In this aspect, HWTT still has a long journey to travel. We will make constant innovation and contribution to alleviation of water recourse shortage, increase of gross amount of fresh water, and improvement of water environment in the way of innovation, opening up and cooperation.
