Recently, China National Chemical Corporation organized the project acceptance meeting of National Sci-tech Support Plan “Research and Demonstration of Forward Osmosis Seawater Desalination key technologies”, this project was conducted by Hangzhou Water Treatment Technology Development Center(HWC) and constructed the largest scale of forward osmosis seawater desalination demonstration projects. The acceptance expert group praised highly the result of this project and all concurred with acceptance.
“Research and Demonstration of Forward Osmosis Seawater Desalination Key Technologies”was the National Sci-tech Support Plan project undertook by HWC during the 12th Five-Year Plan, executed by HWC and East China University of Science and Technology, etc.. The project aimed at researching key technologies included forward osmosis membrane material 、membrane module、draw solution and so on and integrated process unit included the seawater intake、preprocessing、forward osmosis desalination、draw solution regeneration、mineralization modulation after water production and so on at last, developing and forming the forward osmosis desalination project of 500 tons per day.
At present, forward osmosis technology is on the leading edge of water purification and desalination technology in international. Many well-known research institutions and film enterprises are both devoted to the research on forward osmosis technology, but most of them still concentrated on laboratory experiment, many technologies and applications both rest on proceeding attempt and commercial development stage.
HWC relies on the support of National Sci-tech Plan Project, being established in existing research technology and talent team, cooperating with well-known domestic and foreign research institutions, solving several technical problems, joining efforts in developing of forward osmosis seawater desalination, acting as pioneer in constructing the first set of the forward osmosis desalination project of 500 tons per day which is the largest scale of forward osmosis seawater desalination projects around the world now, its fresh water production、water recovery rate and water energy consumption index all reach the leading level of the world.
The successful acceptance of the project of“Research and Demonstration of Forward Osmosis Seawater Desalination Key Technologies”makes HWC become the leader of industry technology again. Creation leads to development, science and technology create future. Next, HWC will continue to research and develop water treatment technology deeply, at the meanwhile, we will be devoted to turn the scientific payoffs into productivity and promote the better development and utilization of water resources to pay back society.
